Product Care

The More You Care, The Longer You Wear

At Melko, we believe your wardrobe deserves care as unique as the designs you wear. Each piece in our collection, from soft cotton dresses to warm knitwear, has been crafted with care and attention to detail.

Taking a little extra time to care for your favourite clothes helps them look and feel great for longer, while also saving water and energy and supporting a sustainable environment.

*Please keep in mind that these are general care guidelines; for best results, always refer to the specific label instructions on each garment.

Viscose/Rayon

  • Handle with care to keep it looking good. Viscose and rayon fabrics are lightweight and luxurious; however, they can become fragile when wet.
  • Use a delicate machine cycle with cold water (below 30°C), preferably hand-washed.
  •  Avoid using hot water or spinning at high speeds, as these may lead to shrinking or distortion.
  • Don't wring, twist, or tumble dry. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water and lay flat to dry in a sheltered area to avoid fading.
  • Iron on low heat (110°C) and use a cloth over it while ironing to protect the fabric.
  • Never dry clean unless the care label recommends it.
  • Follow the care instructions on the product label.

    Linen

    • Carefully clean for a longer life. Linen is breathable and long-lasting, but it requires gentle handling to maintain its texture.
    • Wash in cold to warm water (below 30°C) using a moderate cycle or by hand.
    • Avoid bleach-containing detergents, as they can weaken the fibres.
    • Avoid using hot water, which might cause shrinkage.
    • Air drying is ideal. Lay flat or hang the garment in the shade to avoid sun fading.
    • If tumble drying is required, use a low heat setting only.
    • To remove wrinkles, iron the fabric whilst slightly damp at medium heat (150°C) with steam.
    • Avoid twisting or pulling when damp, as this might result in permanent creases.
    • Follow the care instructions on the product label.

      Cotton

      • Versatile, but requires extra care. Cotton is sturdy but prone to shrinking and fading if mishandled.
      • To keep the texture, wash in cold to warm water (up to 30°C) with a mild detergent.
      • Bright and dark colours should always be washed separately and inside out to prevent fading.
      • Do not use bleach on any coloured or printed fabrics.
      • When drying, avoid using excessive heat. Air dry or tumble dry on a low heat setting (below 60°C).
      • Iron on a medium to high heat setting (150-200°C) and spritz with water to remove tough wrinkles.
      • Avoid soaking cotton for long periods, as this can weaken the fibres.
      • Follow the care instructions on the product label.

        Acrylic

        • Delicate knits require special attention. Acrylic knitwear is warm, lightweight, and easy to care for, but if not handled properly, it can stretch or pill.
        • Preferably, hand wash, but if washing in the machine, wash with a gentle cycle in cold water and a moderate detergent.
        • Avoid using hot water, fabric softeners, or high-speed spins, as these can damage the fibres.
        • Never tumble dry acrylic knits; instead, lay them flat on a clean towel and air dry, reshaping them while still damp.
        • Iron on low heat (110°C) with a pressing cloth to avoid melting the fibres.
        • To preserve their structure and longevity, always store them folded rather than hung.
        • Follow the care instructions on the product label.

          Polyester

          • Wash on a gentle cycle with cold or lukewarm water (up to 30°C) and a light detergent.
          • Bleach and fabric softener might harm the fibers, so avoid using them.
          • Do not wring or twist the clothing, instead, gently press out any excess water.
          • Lay flat or hang in the shade to dry to prevent fading from direct sunshine.
          • If ironing is required, use a low heat setting (110°C) and a cloth over to protect the fabric.
          • Follow the care instructions on the product label.
